She was an "intake do to overcrowding" from a shelter in Philly. We went to look at the cat and she was described as "social, loving, playful, etc." They also stated that she was "3 years old" and while she had been sick when she was brought in as a stray she was now the "picture of health". We trusted the AWA based on the sterling reputation they supposedly have. I should have gone back to Camden County and asked my friend for help finding another cat, but we didn't. We looked online and found a cat.at the AWA. We are a very busy family, one of the reasons we have a cat and not a dog, and started thinking that our social, lovable cat could use a friend. His health record was complete and he had been tested for and immunized against all possible diseases. Friends and relatives who "hate cats" all love him as he has the personality of a dog, lol. He is extremely social, lovable, playful and very much a part of the family. Everything they told us about him was spot on. This cat was estimated to be around 2 years old and he is the picture of health. A person that I work with volunteers there and helped us pick out a cat. This time we adopted from Camden County Animal Shelter via an adoption event at a local PetSmart. However, it didn't seem to be anything sinister.Īround a year ago we got another cat. Our vet did say that they felt it was "hard to believe" that the vet at the shelter didn't know there was something wrong with his kidneys and also felt that he may have been a little older than 7. No complaints here, he was an older cat and this is a somewhat common issue for cats. We eventually had to have him put to sleep to end his suffering.
We kept him comfortable, but his kidneys were too far gone for him to recover. After we had him for 6 months, he was diagnosed by our vet with chronic kidney failure.
They said he was somewhat social, but was a quiet cat. They told us he was older, around 7, but otherwise in good health.
Two years ago my family adopted a cat from the AWA. Consider this my way of putting the story out there and resolving it. Forgive me as this will be a bit of a rant, but I cannot let what has happened pass without comment and every attempt at resolution or amends has been rebuked by them.
